MARC Service Alert

MARC Train - Forecasted severe weather may impact Tuesday service

mta_em_hdr_09_2018.jpg

1/8/2024 3:32 PM

Based on current local weather forecasts, severe weather is projected to occur during tomorrow's (Tuesday's) MARC Train Service. Severe weather can result in multiple types of warnings and speed restrictions that CSX or Amtrak may deem necessary to issue. With all warnings, (Flash Flood, Wind, etc.) comes speed restrictions and delays of 20-25 minutes are common. These restrictions are issued to ensure you have a safe ride to your destination. Downed trees are also a possibility, which will result in lengthier delays and possibly temporary suspension of service.

We will provide updates as needed to keep you informed and thank you in advance for your patience and understanding with any delays that result.

MARC service alert

MARC Brunswick Line - R+ schedule tomorrow due to weather

mta_em_hdr_09_2018.jpg

1/8/2024 7:11 PM

MARC Train has made the decision to reduce Brunswick Line service to the R+ schedule on Tuesday, January 9. Only trains in the R+ schedule grid on the right side of the Brunswick Line timetable will operate. We recognize that this reduced service will cause inconvenience but given updated weather forecasts, we have significant concerns about the ability to offer full service tomorrow on the Brunswick Line. Your safety is MARC Train's first priority.

Trains may still experience delays due to severe weather warnings, downed trees, and other severe weather-related issues. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as MARC Train, Alstom and CSX Transportation get you to your destination safely.

MARC Penn Line service will operate a full schedule tomorrow (Tuesday, January 9). The Camden Line will also operate full service, while the Brunswick Line has been reduced to an R+ schedule. Weather-related delays are likely, due to speed restrictions, downed trees and other issues. Due to the reduced Brunswick Line service, Penn Line Trains 428 (4:30pm departure from Union Station) and 447 (5:50pm departure from Penn Station) will not operate. To accommodate passengers from Train 428, Train 532 (4:10pm departure from Union Station) will add stops at Seabrook and Bowie State University and Train 634 (4:50pm departure from Union Station) will add stops at New Carrollton and BWI Airport.

Your safety is our first priority -- we appreciate your patience and understanding as MARC Train and Amtrak work to get you to your destination safely.
