MARC Severe Weather Alert

Based on current local weather forecasts, severe weather is projected to occur during this evenings, and tomorrow's, MARC Train Service. Severe weather can result in multiple types of warnings and speed restrictions that CSX, or Amtrak, may deem necessary to issue. With all warnings, (Flash Flood, Wind, etc.) comes speed restrictions and delays of 20-25 minutes are not uncommon. These restrictions are issued to ensure you have a safe ride to your destination. We will provide updates as needed to keep you informed

Based on current local weather forecasts, severe weather is projected to occur during this evenings MARC Train Service. Severe weather can result in multiple types of warnings and speed restrictions that CSX, or Amtrak, may deem necessary to issue. With all warnings, (Flash Flood, Wind, etc.) comes speed restrictions and delays of 20-25 minutes are not uncommon. These restrictions are issued to ensure you have a safe ride to your destination.

The current forecast includes not only a Wind Chill Advisory, but a Wind Advisory and Warning. Forecast includes sustained winds of 20-30 mph with gusts of 55-60 mph. Downed trees, power outages, and wind related speed rstrictions are expected and will be monitored closely. Updates will be provided to keep you informed.

Light Rail Weather Related Service Advisory

Due to the high winds and downed trees on the overhead wires just north of Falls Road station, Light Rail service between North Avenue and Falls Road is temporarily suspended. A bus bridge will be in place to accommodate passengers between those stations while repairs are made. Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your travels during this time. Updates will be provided as additional service information is available.

UPDATED - Light Rail Weather Related Service Advisory

Due to the high winds and downed trees on the overhead wires at several areas along the Light Rail line, repairs are ongoing and are expected to continue into tomorrow morning. A bus bridge continues to be in place to accommodate passengers between North Avenue and False Road stations. We are asking customers to please plan ahead and allow extra time for your travels during this time. Updates will be provided as additional service information is available.

Penn Line service is suspended until further notice due to track conditions , no trains will depart Union Station or Penn Station until further notice, Updates to follow.

Penn Line service remaining trains that will run for this evening, departing out of Washington are MARC 548 (Dpt 9:00pm Union) and MARC 452 (Dpt 10:55pm Union). Train departing Baltimore will be MARC 453 (Dpt 9:35pm Penn).

Icy conditions are present at all stations, MARC forces are currently trying to salt platforms, please be careful boarding at all stations.

WMAR-TV, 2-ABC in Baltimore, MD, 12/23/22:

 

 

 Light Rail service suspended from fallen trees between Falls Rd and North Ave.    

 

 

According to the MTA, Light Rail service is down just north of Falls Road station due to inclement weather.
