WMATA service advisory:

 
Weekend service adjustments July 21-23 for scheduled maintenance

Advisory Effective: 7/17/17 - 7/30/17

 

Maintenance work over the weekend of July 21-23 to keep trains operating safely and reliably.

 

Highlights

  • Orange, Silver, Blue and Green line trains operate regular weekend service
  • Free shuttle buses replace Red Line trains between Friendship Heights and Grosvenor
  • Yellow Line trains operate regular weekend intervals between Huntington and National Airport only.

Red Line
Buses replace trains between Friendship Heights and Grosvenor | 7:00AM Saturday until closing Sunday.

Red Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals between Shady Grove & Grosvenor and between Friendship Heights & Glenmont. Additional trains will operate between Farragut North & Silver Spring between 9:00AM & 9:00PM.

 

Free shuttle buses will operate on two routes:

  • Local will operate between Grosvenor and Friendship Heights making intermediate stops at Medical Center and Bethesda. Please allow 10 minutes of travel time for each station stop.
  • Express will operate between Grosvenor and Friendship Heights only.

Stations closed: Medical Center and Bethesda.

To allow for shuttle bus connections, the last trains will depart:

  • Shady Grove at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, 40 minutes earlier than normal, 10:25 p.m. Sunday, regular time.
  • Glenmont at 12:33 a.m. Saturday and 10:33 Sunday, regular time.

Work performed: Red Line leak mitigation pilot. This work will continue each weekend through August 6.

Tap your SmarTrip card each time you enter and exit the Metrorail system. Riders traveling through the work zone will be charged for a single, continuous trip.

 

Orange Line
Regular weekend service

 

Silver Line
Regular weekend service

 

Friday - Saturday, 10:00 p.m. until closing, single tracking between Stadium-Armory & Addison Rd to allow for communication cable installation for cell phone coverage.

Sunday - Wednesday, 10:00 p.m. until closing, single tracking between Stadium-Armory & Morgan Blvd to allow for communication cable installation for cell phone coverage.

 

Blue Line
Regular weekend service

 

Friday - Saturday, 10:00 p.m. until closing, single tracking between Stadium-Armory & Addison Rd to allow for communication cable installation for cell phone coverage.

Sunday - Wednesday, 10:00 p.m. until closing, single tracking between Stadium-Armory & Morgan Blvd to allow for communication cable installation for cell phone coverage.

 

Yellow Line
Regular weekend intervals Huntington to National Airport only. | 7:00AM Saturday until closing Sunday

 

From 7:00 a.m. Saturday until closing Sunday, trains will operate at regular weekend intervals, every 12-15 minutes between Huntington & National Airport only. There will be no Yellow Line service between National Airport and Washington, DC. Customers traveling to/from stations north of National Airport should use a Blue Line train and transfer at L'Enfant Plaza to the Green Line to complete their trip.

 

Work performed: Grout pad renewal on the Potomac River bridge. This work will continue each weekend through July 30.

Travel Tips

Metrobus service may provide an alternate travel option for some riders. To check, plan your trip using Trip Planner and select the bus only option.

 

Before traveling, consult the trip planner at wmata.com to check the special schedule and reduce your wait time. Trip Planner is updated to reflect weekend rebuilding schedules on Fridays; please check on Friday afternoon or later.
