Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Remains Suspended; Customers advised to check njtransit.com for updates

Following is the current plan for the afternoon rush hour on Monday, February 2, 2015. Customers are urged to use extreme caution traveling around the system and boarding and alighting trains and buses.

Light Rail

Hudson-Bergen Light Rail service will remain suspended through tonight due to heavy icing conditions on the overhead catenary wires, and may be suspended tomorrow if conditions do not improve. A limited shuttle bus operation is being provided between stations in the following areas until service can be restored.

  • 8th Street to/from Liberty State Park

  • Liberty State Park to/from Westside Ave.

  • Liberty State Park to/from Newport

  • Newport to/from Hoboken

  • Newport to/from Tonnelle Ave.

Hudson-Bergen Light Rail customers are urged to check njtransit.com tomorrow morning to determine if service will be operating.

NJ TRANSIT plans to run a regularly scheduled evening rush hour on its Newark Light Rail and River LINE light rail systems on Monday, February 2. However, customers should monitor conditions and service closely due to rapidly changing weather conditions.

Rail

NJ TRANSIT plans to run a regularly scheduled evening rush hour on its rail system Monday, February 2. However, customers should monitor conditions and service closely due to rapidly changing weather conditions.

Cross-honoring

NJ TRANSIT has extended systemwide cross-honoring through Tuesday, February 3 to give customers additional travel options through and after the storm, enabling customers to use their ticket or pass on an alternate travel mode — rail, light rail or bus — including private bus carriers.

For example, customers who normally take the bus from Rutherford to the Port Authority Bus Terminal may use their bus pass or ticket on the train from Rutherford to New York Penn Station. Similarly, customers who normally take the bus between Atlantic City and Lindenwold may use the Atlantic City Rail Line instead at no additional charge. Customers using their tickets or passes to travel to a destination other than the destination printed on their original ticket will be subject to the appropriate additional fare if applicable.

Edited out bus and paratransit information.
