From Dayton, OH Daily News, 8/30/08:

DAYTON — A project to develop a streetcar system connecting the University of area with downtown Dayton would cost about three times as much as the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority estimated last year, according to a consultant's study.

Story is here.

Free shuttle likely coming to downtown Dayton — could streetcars follow?

Greater Downtown Dayton could get a free shuttle service — known as a circulator — as soon as early fall to better connect employers, amenities, shopping and dining areas and hot destinations.

Dayton is the only city in USA with a separate electric trolley bus operation.  Other cities with ETBs have light rail modes as well (Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Seattle).  Vintage electric trolley bus operation is available at Seashore Trolley Museum and Illinois Railway Museum.

Here's a picture of a Dayton ETB.  http://www.jtbell.net/transit/Dayton/
