From ColoRail, newsletter for January/February 2006:
Due to the success of Denver's 16th Street Mall bus shuttle, a second route is being created. The existing shuttle serves Denver Union Station. With FasTracks someday adding commuter rail and more light rail to the scene, Union Station will become a larger hub than it is today. The new route will be needed to handle the distribution of rail passengers to their places of employment or recreation. The new shuttle will run in special lanes on 18th & 19th Streets, and it will also interface with the existing RTD light rail line at its Civic Center station. It is expected to go into serivice in 2013.
ColoRail members have been serving for a number of years as station hosts, meeting the morning and evening arrivals and departures of the CALIFORNIA ZEPHYR. They welcome passengers to Denver and assist them with questions they may have about Amtrak travel and Union Station facilities. A number of hosts were recognized in ColoRail's newsletter for volunteering to work over Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years. Some did not actually work, because the train was seriously delayed.
ColoRail will play host to the NARP Region 10 meeting, to be held on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at the Sage Room of the Oxford Hotel in Denver. Registration begins at 8:30 AM, and the meeting will run from 9:30 AM until 2 PM.
