From TrainRiders Northeast (TNE), newsletter for winter 2006:
Through November 2005, the DOWNEASTER service has bounced back from a ridership drop to a 15% increase. Faster service, spiking gasoline prices, and the plans to add a fifth round trip are credited for the turnaround.
On December 15, 2005, a 4th Anniversary Party was held for the DOWNEASTER service. Cake was passed out to officials and passengers both aboard the train and in stations. The very last piece went to Wayne Davis, Chairman of TNE and father of the DOWNEASTER.
The rest of this newsletter is outdated, discussing the firing of David Gunn and the results of last year's active hurricane season.
