From All Aboard Ohio (AAO), newsletter for winter 2006:

Norfolk Southern and CSX have both publicly approved the Ohio Rail Development Commission's (ORDC) Ohio Hub Plan. The plan calls for a network of intercity high speed rail lines running to cities within and outside of Ohio, with Cleveland and Cincinnati as the hubs.

Lorain County officials hope to be able to relocated the area's Amtrak station from an Am-Shack on East Bridge Street to a downtown ex-New York Central depot. The latter would provide some intermodalism by allowing room for buses, taxis, and rental cars.

The fall timetable change brought back westbound stops on the CAPITOL LIMITED for Elyria and Sandusky. It has been suspended due to problems with conflicting freight traffic.

Hamilton, OH lost all rail service though. That station is on the thrice-weekly CARDINAL route. Low ridership, most likely caused by the poor service and the train calling in both directions at roughly 4 AM, contributed to the elimination of the station stop.
