Just a reminder for the benefit of those new to OTOL... We have an organized Chat session each Sunday night, starting at 9:30 PM Eastern Time (adjust if in a different time zone). While the Chat is always open, unless you have pre-arranged with another member to chat together, you will usually find yourself alone at other times.

There is currently somebody going into the Chat rooms this week on other nights asking effecitvely nobody for information on the Auto Train. Come join us Sunday nights and you will be sure to get answers to your questions!

Sometimes it comes through as an extra digest but today I got an email with just that question. I wonder what causes an email with the subject OTOL-Chat and what triggers a digest.

Anytime somebody enters the chat room in a 24 hour period midnight to midnight, they will generate a transcript (which you are on the e-mail list to receive), even if they don't type any message. I'm not sure why some individuals think that "Chat" means that asking a question to nobody will result in an answer. That's what this board is for.

As always we meet Sundays 9:30 PM Eastern Time (adjusted accordingly in other areas).

Many have no work/school this Monday, so perhaps we can chat longer.

We need to have a serious real-time discussion on our plans for the summer events. Since we met in January some breaking news has developed. So if you are thinking of joining us for the PNW Fest, this would be a good time to be part of the conversation and have a say in what we ultimately do in July.

I forgot that it is Sunday with the holiday and an Amtrak Saturday schedule. I will be waiting for and riding a SEPTA R7 from Trenton at the time. If the fest goes as posted I will fly out there and meet the group in Portland. I would stay behind for a soccer game in Seattle after the group leaves on the Builder, then return home.

There is a chat transcript waiting in my email so I will read it when I get to a 'real' computer (I am currently on a BlackBerry).

Folks on last night's Chat (Sunday 2/28/10) we had an outage right in the middle of the session. Those who were in lost their ability to communicate and were eventually bounced out, and those trying to connect couldn't do so for about 10 minutes. Eventually all of the participants who had been on before were able to resume.

Servers can and do have hiccups; and the best thing to do is just be patient and wait it out. Keep trying and eventually things go back to normal. The host may have to reboot the server, which usually takes a few minutes.
