Bill: I just took my first trip of the year, as follows:
  • April 2 SEA-BEL Train 510 95 miles
  • April 3 BEL-SEA Train 513 95 miles
Mile for mile, there aren't many short routes as scenic as this one--rocky shores, verdant islands, snow-laden peaks to east and west, lush farmland, mighty rivers, sparkling bays and an inland sea (Puget Sound). A sunny day only adds to the pleasure.

Lightning : your Amtrak Mileage Tally submission has been recorded as follows:

2-Apr-07 : Amtrak Train 510 Cascades; from Seattle, WA to Bellingham, WA ; 95 miles
3-Apr-07 : Amtrak Train 513 Cascades; from Bellingham, WA to Seattle, WA ; 95 miles

This submission added 2 segments and 190 miles to your 2007 totals.
Your 2007 totals are 2 segments and 190 miles.
Your 2007 mileage is 1.0% of 18,125 total miles submitted by all participants to date.
You are presently ranked 11 out of 12 participants.

Philadelphia to New York is similar to Seattle to Bellingham except substitute derelict buildings, junk cars, and waste water pools for the rocky shores, verdant islands, and snow-laden peaks.

Welcome to the 2007 Tally!

Hi! I'm a newbie on OTOL, so I'm not sure what this thread is all about, but I'll post my recent trips anyway:

11/28/06 - 11/29/06: NOL to CHI on #58 ( 926 mi.)
11/29/06: CHI to MTP on #5 ( 233 mi.)
11/30/06 - 12/01/06: MTP to SLC on #5 (1375 mi.)

12/18/06: DLD to HOL on #97 ( 288 mi.)
12/19/06: HOL to DLD on #98 ( 288 mi.)

02/08/07: PAK to KIS on #91 ( 107 mi.)
02/08/07: KIS to PTK on #98 ( 107 mi.)

Looks like a grand total of 3324 miles.

Sorry, guys, please ignore my above post. Now that I've read the rules, I'll come on board properly.

I may have trips to report in May and August of this year; sorry for the retroactive posting.

Incidentally, my full name is Michael Napolitano and, since no Amtrak service over the CSX "S" line through Central Florida any more, and no more Sunset Limited east of NOL, I'm a bit of an Amtrak orphan right now.

My "home" stations are now variously Deland or Palatka if I'm traveling north/south and New Orleans if I'm going west or to Chicagoland.

Welcome Michael. IPB Image

Once our official record keeper makes his next visit he'll record your mileage from February of this year, which will be allowed. However, the books are indeed closed for 2006 so those miles won't be counted for last year and obviously would have no place in this year's tally.
