Construction on the Newport Hotel South of Pavonia-Newport Station Will Impact Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Weekend Service Starting on May 5 & 6, 2007

Effective Date: May 05, 2007

Starting on Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, 2007, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day, adjacent construction on the Newport Hotel site will restrict the operation of the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail system. This outage will affect weekend service for three consecutive weekends. In the even of inclement weather, the construction may be cancelled and regular service will operate.

Service will not operate between Pavonia-Newport Station and Harsimus Cove Station in either direction. Customers who need to travel through this area will need to use shuttle buses or other local options.

Take Note

• Tonnelle Avenue to Hoboken Terminal service will continue to operate its normal weekend schedule.

• Tonnelle Avenue to West Side Avenue service will operate only between Tonnelle Avenue and Pavonia- Newport stations, and Harsimus Cove and West Side Avenue stations.

• Bayonne to Hoboken service will operate only between Bayonne and Harsimus Cove Station, and Pavonia-Newport and Hoboken Terminal.

• Shuttle buses will be available to bring customers between Pavonia-Newport and Harsimus Cove stations. Because these stations are close to each other, some customers also may choose to walk between the two locations.

• Staff will be available at Pavonia-Newport and Harsimus Cove stations to answer questions and direct customers regarding their travel options.

NJ TRANSIT thanks you for your patience and cooperation. While we will do everything we can to minimize your inconvenience and restore our normal service as quickly as safety permits, please allow extra time for your trip. If you have any questions, please contact NJ TRANSIT at 1 (800) 772-2222.
