Well, on there way out of Harrisburg, their officials should complain to those that helped make the Keystones a little more competitive, the Pennsylvania State House, or is it called the Commonwealth House?(Just wondering). Now I can see where Amtrak would be more competitive with the airlines in the Northeast, but right now the political climate in this country makes it easy for people to use Amtrak's subsidies against them, no matter what the route is. Say, was there ever a case for Harrisburg to qualify for EAS? I heard that program is up for cuts, and the FAA/DOT was selling it as an excuse to weed out airports that still get the subsidized air service despite no longer being rural.
Now Amtrak Cascades is a great service here, but as far as I can see, Horizon Air has nothing to worry about on Seattle-Portland, yet. The Dog, that's a different story. |
