Well not surprisingly the news ticker at the top of Amtrak's site states that they have cancelled service for tomorrow (Wed) in Florida. However the person coding the page forgot to change the actual link to correspond with the news story, so upon clicking the link to read the full story, one gets yesterday's press release.

Service Alert: Florida Service Cancelled Wednesday as Tropical Storm Fay Moves across the State
August 19, 2008 4:00 pm ET Concurring with track owner, CSX Transportation, Amtrak has cancelled service to Florida again Wednesday, August 20, 2008, as a result of severe weather brought on by Tropical Storm Fay. The services cancelled are: Auto Train - Trains 52 & 53 between Lorton, Va. and Sanford, Fla. Silver Star - Trains 91 & 92 between New York and Miami Silver Meteor - Trains 97 & 98 between New York and Miami No alternate transportation will be provided. However, service to North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia will be available via other regularly-scheduled trains. The decision regarding service for Thursday, August 21, 2008 has not yet been made. Amtrak is contacting affected passengers to alert them of the cancellations. Passengers may call 800-USA-RAIL or visit Amtrak.com for additional information and train status updates. This information is correct as of the date and time above and will be updated as needed. |
