"The Metro (subway) is very user friendly...." The system, IMO, is straight forward, but its farecard machines are quirky and will on occasion take your money without dispensing a ticket. I've used the London Tube which is larger than DC's Metro and never have machines stiffed me. It's appalling that American technology which created dependable ATMs seems unable to produce reliable ticketing systems for mass transit.
