And mine. Sorry about the last five pictures...I've always found the 105/110 interchange impressive (for a non-rail-related structure tongue.gif), and that was my first (and perhaps last, considering my impending move) opportunity to see it from that point of view.

I have several videos, too, but haven't yet found time to Youtube them.

And mine.

Before the Fest I was berating myself for never having done the Metrolink Antelope Valley Line and for having to miss riding it with the Fest. Seeing some of these photos (virtually certain they're that line) made me realize that I saw the territory during the Coast Starlight Tehachapi Detour in June '08. Now all I have left to gripe about is not doing the San Berdoo Line, and missing it with the Fest. Thanks for the pics, Chris.

I don't know if you've ridden the Sunset Limited yet, but it runs on a small part of the San Bernardino Line around El Monte.

Yes, the routing of the Tehachapi detour brings back fond memories of my first interaction with a certain non-OTOLler who joined us. tongue.gif I found out how and when it's announced, and most other minutiae besides the answer to my thrice-asked question 'what route does it take?' I eventually gave up and discovered independently that yes, it goes all the way out to almost Colton, then turns north and goes through the Cajon pass to join Metrolink just south of Palmdale and run alongside it (AFAIK two single-tracks sharing ballast and looking like double track, but different owners) for about 9 miles before Metrolink ends at their Lancaster miniyard and UP continues on to Tehachapi, Bakersfield and Sacramento (whence its normal route).

True. But that is just the flat portion from Palmdale to Lancaster, assuming of course that the detour followed UP up Cajon Pass and then along the Palmdale Cutoff. The best part of the Antelope Valley Line however is through Soledad Canyon (between Palmdale and Santa Clarita), which you missed. So you might still want to travel the Antelope Valley line, albeit, you could turn back at Palmdale and not go all the way to Lancaster.
