From Philadelphia, PA Inquirer, 11/10/09:

No Fare Free Fridays like with one of the past strikes, but some post-strike activity. Note that transpasses that were punched by Regional Rail conductors are no good.
Both from the Inquirer web site: QUOTE Time for a couple of givebacks for strike-beleaguered SEPTA commuters. Anyone who has an unpunched TransPass valid for last week is entitled to an exchange or credit, even if the pass was partially used, SEPTA announced yesterday. And today and tomorrow, free SEPTA tokens - worth $2 for rides on buses, trolleys, and subways - will be given out from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at 15th and Market Streets, courtesy of Stovetop, the stuffing-mix maker. Details here: http://www.philly.com/philly/news/20091110..._commuters.html QUOTE Crowds gobble up free SEPTA tokens "It's an early Christmas!" said Sammy Dominguez, 44, an unemployed cook from North Philadelphia. In less than 15 minutes, he'd gotten "Five so far!" of the free SEPTA tokens handed out by red-jacketed Stove Top reps this morning at 15th and Market Streets. The idea was one token per person. Reality was something else. Read on: http://www.philly.com/philly/news/breaking...PTA_tokens.html |
