Fascinating slide show on this project, which will eventually also be used by Amtrak to shave minutes off the Seattle-Portland run. From the Tacoma News-Tribune blog. The accompanying captions are interesting and informative. Love the welding slides..

The bad news is King Tim is going to make it hard for WSDOT to possibly have the money to finish their portion of this project. I-1033, if passed, could hurt state revenue, and WSDOT might have the Marine Division going against the Rail Division for what the highway division doesn't take. I voted against Eyman's attempt to crudely copy Colorado's TABOR myself.
Now it is good news they are about to finally get this project going, though. It is needed. This post has been edited by EvergreenRailfan: Nov 3 2009, 07:19 PM |

Going by early returns, might be able to scratch that on my Doom and Gloom Scenario, even King Tim has admited this rare defeat for him.
