An Amtrak train was traveling from Chicago to Emeryville, Calif., when it was stuck by a truck at about 11:25 a.m. PT on Friday. Numerous fatalities and multiple injuries have been reported.

NTSB ADVISORY ************************************************************ National Transportation Safety Board Washington, DC 20594 June 24, 2011 ********************************************************** NTSB LAUNCHING TEAM TO INVESTIGATE AMTRAK ACCIDENT IN NEVADA ************************************************************ The National Transportation Safety Board has launched a Go-Team to investigate the collision between an Amtrak passenger train and a vehicle at a grade crossing on a rural highway in Nevada. The Amtrak train was traveling from Chicago to Emeryville, Calif., when it was stuck by a truck at about 11:25 a.m. PT today. Numerous fatalities and multiple injuries have been reported. Robert Accetta will serve as Investigator-in-Charge for the team. Member Earl Weener is accompanying the team and will serve as principal spokesman during the on-scene phase of the investigation. (WLS) -- At least two people were killed and about 20 others were injured when an Amtrak train from Chicago was struck by a semitrailer truck in Nevada Friday. Police say the truck driver and an Amtrak employee were killed in the crash, which happened about 1:30 p.m. Chicago time on Friday. A Nevada State Trooper told ABC7 Friday night that a third person -- a train passenger -- died in the crash as well. The train was headed from Chicago to the San Francisco Bay Area when it crashed near Trinity, Nev., which is about 70 miles east of Reno. Reports are now saying 5 dead 45 missing. scores injured. It appears the truck driver tried to stop at the last minute but ran out of room.
