Note the Rio Grande Foundation's ill informed contention that RailRunner is "non-essential." Sigh. Same old same old.

It's only "non-essential" because THEY choose not to use it. I have no doubt that RailRunner keeps a lot of traffic off parallel I-25. Maybe the members of this Foundation need to go sit in a traffic jam?
