California Zephyr Trains 5 and 6: Detour between Chicago and Omaha - Motorcoach Service Provided between Intermediate Stations

California Zephyr Trains 5 and 6

Due to track work being performed by BNSF Railway, Trains 5 and 6 will operate non-stop between Chicago and Omaha and will not stop at any intermediate stations on Oct. 22 and 23. Passengers traveling to or from the following stations will be provided alternate transportation, as described below:

Naperville, Princeton, Galesburg, Burlington, Mount Pleasant, Ottumwa, Osceola and Creston

Westbound Train 5

The following service changes will affect westbound passengers scheduled to board at Chicago, Omaha, Chicago or intermediate stations on Oct. 22 and 23.

Passengers boarding in Chicago who are traveling to Omaha and points west will board Train 5 in Chicago. Passengers boarding in Chicago who are traveling to Burlington, Mount Pleasant, Ottumwa, Osceola and Creston will be provided motorcoach service to their destination. Passengers boarding in Chicago who are traveling to Naperville, Princeton and Galesburg will be re-accommodated on Southwest Chief Train 3, which departs Chicago at 3:00 pm, and arrives at Naperville at 3:35 pm, Princeton at 4:46 pm and Galesburg at 5:35 pm. Passengers boarding in Galesburg, Burlington, Mount Pleasant, Ottumwa, Osceola and Creston will be provided motorcoach service to Omaha, where they may board westbound Train 5. Motorcoach service will also be available for local travel between Galesburg and Creston. Service will not be provided for passengers boarding at Naperville or Princeton. Passengers may, instead, board at Chicago or Galesburg.

Eastbound Train 6

The following service changes will affect eastbound passengers scheduled to arrive at Omaha, Chicago or intermediate stations on Oct. 22 and 23.

Passengers on Train 6 who are traveling to Chicago will remain on the train. Passengers on Train 6 who are traveling to Princeton, Galesburg, Burlington, Mount Pleasant, Ottumwa, Osceola and Creston will detrain at Omaha where motorcoach service will be provided to their destination. Motorcoach service will also be available for local travel between Creston and Naperville.

Naperville Option

The Metra BNSF Railway commuter line offers frequent service from Chicago to Naperville. In lieu of taking the motorcoach from Omaha to Naperville, passengers may remain on the train until it arrives at Chicago Union Station, and take a Metra train to Naperville. To obtain tickets, passengers should go to the Metra ticket office in Chicago Union Station, purchase a Metra ticket for $5.00 (at their own expense) and board the Metra train to Naperville. For Metra schedules and information, call (312) 836-7000 or visit http://www.metrarail.com/ .

Thank you for traveling with Amtrak. We appreciate your patronage and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience. Reservation and train status information is available on the standard and mobile versions of http://www.Amtrak.com/ , the new free iPhone app and at 1-800-USA-RAIL.
