From the Chicago Tribune:

QUOTE
MEXICO CITY -- The underground offensive begins behind the turnstiles, where youths in orange T-shirts lie in wait for the rush of people coming down the subway stairs.

Before Metro passengers can get to a train, the youths hand them a book. That is their welcome into Mexico City's new rolling library.

In a novel program, the government of the hemisphere's largest city has begun distributing free anthologies of literature to subway commuters in hopes of improving the atmosphere in the train tunnels, perhaps lowering the crime rate and promoting more serious reading among Mexicans.

The full story is here.
