Glad to note Gov. Christie is ready to support this badly needed trans-Hudson upgrade. Too bad we have to wait til 2025 to benefit. Also, the governor is now supportive of PATCO LRT in South Jersey. Hopefully, construction will start soon. Sloan |

Christie would have supported ARC had it not gotten so watered down while expenses rose. For what it was going to cost, and having it end up in a huge hole under 34th Street with no ability to enter the existing Penn Station nor be extended to Grand Central or have a connection with Sunnyside Yards, he did the right thing. Unfortunately, to back down the wrong track and then proceed up the right one (kind of like what the MBTA had to do at Canton Junction) cost them 8 years.
As for South Jersey, I have to wonder if having the LRT between Glassboro and Camden is not somehow connected to Christie's wish to merge the Camden campus of Rutgers University with Rowan University. If that succeeds, having light rail between the 2 campuses of Rowan would be a plus for the college, and a definite passenger generator for the transit agency, presumed to eventually be NJ Transit. -------------------- Kevin Korell OTOL Board Leader Howell, NJ |
