June Mileage Tally Submissions, CLOSED Options

This is the open topic for submitting all 2012 Amtrak Mileage Tally trips. Submit your trips as replies in this topic. Please provide:

- the date of the start of travel for each train or Thruway bus;
- the train number (or train name if just one train of that name a day);
- and your starting and ending points (station code or station name).

- If this is your first time posting to the Mileage Tally, please provide your actual name in the posting or by PM to me. Your name will not be posted by me.

And I'll start us off for this month Bill, with two trips both filled with unusual activities.

6/1 NYP-BOS #2160

6/2 BOS-NYP #2253

On 2160 we had an unscheduled stop in Old Saybrook to let off someone who apparently didn't notice the long stop in New Haven, which is where they wanted to go.

On 2253 our lead power car 2004 had the "main CV locked out and the engineer was forced to drop the pan west pf New London. He had to follow a complicated 9 step procedure when we got to New Haven, and according to the road forman that the conductor had called, he had one chance to get it right. If he missed a step, it would disable the entire train.

On 2253, it was probably the "main CB" or circuit breaker that was locked out. The protection and control devices open and lock the CB until the the system can be convinced there is nothing wrong. It prevents an overzealous engineer from continually closing a CB into a fault until the CB finally has had it and blows up.
