Boston Magazine, 1/9/14:

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has big plans for the Commonwealth over the next five years, including shortening commutes, bolstering the community, and adding specialized trains to the “Indigo Line,” which ideally, one day, would make stops in Allston, Cambridge, and stretch all the way to the North Shore.

Story is here.

While the current Fairmount Line, long rumored to eventually be converted to a higher frequency Indigo Line would continue running between Readville and South Station, the Indigo Line would also include the route proposed last year between the Convention Center and Back Bay Station, even though these lines would cross perpendicularly. The "Indigo Line" would end up being a network of routes, probably with different number or letter designations, much like the Green Line has its B, C, D, and E routes today.
