Metro incident causes smoke in Ballston; service restored

Arlington County Fire respond to an earlier smoke incident at Ballston Metro.

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — Metro says an electrical malfunction caused some smoke on the orange and silver lines at the Ballston station, and trains had to share a single track while repairs were made.

 

Metro spokeswoman Caroline Laurin says there was an electrical arcing incident involving an insulator on the tracks Friday morning. Firefighters were called to the scene as a precaution but have cleared the scene.

Amazing this happened twice in one week... and it thus exposes the fact that this mandated "rebuilding" program cannot happen fast enough.
