KCS Service Status Update

Hurricane Ida causes service interruption in Louisiana and Gulfport, MS area

August 30, 2021

As communicated on August 27th, Hurricane Ida was heading to the Louisiana coast. At this time, due to excessive rain and wind caused by the hurricane, the KCS mainline operations and interchanges from New Orleans to Baton Rouge, as well as Gulfport/Hattiesburg, MS have been suspended. We continue to monitor the storm’s projected path and potential impact on the rest of our network.

Until the water has receded sufficiently, maintenance cannot yet begin. Crews are on location and will begin making the necessary assessments and repairs once the all clear has been received.

At this time there is no estimated time for the line to be reopen. Once it has reopened, we will send out an update.

Please note that once the line has reopened, customers should expect some delays until the backlog has been alleviated and normal speeds can be resumed over the affected area.

If you have questions related to your shipments, please don’t hesitate to contact KCSR Customer Solutions team for assistance who will be monitoring the situation and can provide additional information specific to your shipment.

We apologize for any inconvenience and are working to resolve as quickly as possible.

Thank you for being a loyal customer.
