Strike Contingency for Thursday Evening, December 22 and Friday Morning, December 23
Service for Thursday, December 22
Metro-North's NYCT strike contingency plan serving additional customers seeking to use railroad service in the Bronx and Manhattan remains in effect. Customers using shuttle trains during tonight's PM Peak (3:30 PM to 8:30 PM) should note the following:
Customers taking trains for Wakefield, Woodlawn, Williams Bridge, Botanical Garden, and Fordham (East Bronx service) must line up to enter Grand Central Terminal at 42rd Street and Vanderbilt Avenues. These trains will depart from tracks 42 through 39. Peak-period shuttle service bypasses Tremont (customers should use Fordham Station) and Melrose (customers should use trains for the temporary station at Yankee Stadium).
Trains departing Grand Central for Riverdale, Spuyten Duyvil, Marble Hill, University Heights, and Morris Heights (West Bronx service) will leave from tracks 36 and 37. Trains departing for the Yankee Stadium Park & Ride facility will leave from Track 38. Customers for these trains may access Grand Central through any entrance.
All trains (regular & shuttle) will stop at Harlem-125th Street.
New Haven Line trains will make all regularly scheduled stops, including Fordham.
Expect long lines, some delays and crowded conditions. Customers must buy their tickets in advance before boarding.
Service for Friday, December 23
The strike contingency plan will continue until 11 AM on Friday, December 23. At that time Metro-North will resume running a regular Friday schedule. The special Holiday Getaway timetable (previously issued for December 23) will not be in effect. Consult a regular timetable for train times. When accessing the schedule through the web site, use the date Friday, December 16 to get the proper timetable. Also note: The Park&Ride Lot at Yankee Stadium will be closed tomorrow, but shuttle service for walk-in customers will continue at this temporary station until 11 AM.
We appreciate your patience during this special contingency operation.
