I think I have seen the street in question. Appleway is the Eastbound leg of the Valley Couplet, with the portion of Sprague Ave that it paralells being Westbound Only. Now if they can expand the width of the banked right of way to 100ft, that makes sense, but there should be an amendment to the local land-use laws and plans, saying that the roads can have a small portion of this corridor, but not more.

Now on the bus front, the STA has a problem. They need to get the sales tax renewed that was passed in 2004. It sunsets in 2009. I know they wanted voter accountability, but this was not the way to do it. It should have been 10-15 years. They have been working on more crosstown bus routes, and a few other routes have been improved.

Perhaps to get better chances of voter approval, they should prepare planning for Light Rail to Cheney, but there is a reason that the Spokane Media forgets about EWU when they are competing in the Division 1-AA football tournament or the NCAA Tournament(they made it one year before the coach went to Utah), and that is because they feel CHeney is in the wasteland/Wheatlands west of the city. It is still semi-wide open spaces west of Spokane, while Spokane Valley is nothing but suburban sprawl.
