First Excursion Trains From Roanoke in 12 Years -

The first excursion trains since 1997 will operate out of Roanoke, Virginia, over two Norfolk Southern lines on November 7 and November 8. The trips are sponsored by the Roanoke Chapter, National Railway Historical Society. Trains leave Saturday and Sunday at 8 AM from the former Norfolk and Western passenger station behind the O Winston Link Museum and near the Virginia Museum of Transportation. Saturday's trip is to Bluefield, West Virginia, and back via the New River and Sunday's trip is to Shenandoah, Virginia, and back via the James River. This is an Amtrak train with additional privately owned cars. Adult coach tickets are $145 and children (12 and under) are $95 each day.
