Luxury intercity bus company Megabus will offer new routes in December connecting Charlotte and the Triangle to Washington, D.C. The services will compete with the Obama administration’s planned Southeast High Speed Rail Corridor, which would follow a similar route.

You've got to wonder how they came up with this stellar piece of journalism. Is Megabus really going to go 110 mph?
How is a $1 bus seat in competition with the comfort of a high speed train? The latter will definitely go faster, have room to stretch your legs, have food on board, etc. If you want to stretch things a bit, MAYBE Megabus would be in competition with the existing Carolinian, which itself has a lot more amenties than the bus, but the bus may very well beat it between the two endpoints due to the train's indirect route and that dirty 3-letter word, CSX.
