All Aboard Washington (AAWA), newsletter for June/July, 2011:

Washington DOT was awarded another $160 million for high speed rail projects on its Pacific Northwest Corridor. The projects will go towards improving the BNSF infrastructure so that both passenger and freight trains can move faster. Over the next 5 years, the number of Cascades round trips between Seattle and Portland is expected to increase from 4 to 6.

A new platform is under construction at the Bingen-White Salmon Amtrak station, in order to bring it up to standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
