An easier ride will soon be just a barcode away

Capitol Corridor is currently testing eTicketing on board our trains. This means you’ll see conductors carrying mobile scanners in addition to their regular hole-punch. Currently, they are scanning and punching existing tickets as part of the testing for this new program. They will be doing this until the testing period is complete and exclusive eTickets start being issued for travel on Capitol Corridor trains. During this testing period, we encourage you to continue to keep your paper ticket in a safe and secure location as it still has value and needs to be presented to obtain a refund or exchange.

Once we confirm the ticket scanning system is working, you’ll begin to see eTickets issued to passengers for one-way or round-trip travel only on Capitol Corridor trains. Buses will not be included in the first phase of this ticketing system change. In the meantime, general program information on eTicketing can be found at http://www.Amtrak.com/eticketing .

City of Sacramento Parking & Exit project – begins April 2

Capitol Corridor has been advised that starting on Monday April 2, 2012, construction will begin at the Sacramento Valley Station to create a new vehicle exit and pedestrian cross walk at 4th and I Streets. This project will greatly ease the traffic flow at the station parking lot and will allow vehicles to turn left from the parking lot onto the North and Southbound on ramps to I-5. A new traffic light will also provide a safe route for train riders to and from the Old Town Sacramento Parking Structure. Visit http://www.capitolcorridor.org/news for additional information about parking at this station during this project.
