Yep, I stopped there weekend before last, and the Amtrak iPhone app even let me check in!

Two miles is a long way. At least the local transit authority is running shuttle buses between the regular and temporary station sites. Imagine somebody being dropped off at the usual location only to find that trains are not stopping there, and their ride has left already. Hopefully there were items in the media before this particular article was written after the fact.

Amtrak passenger trains that arrive and depart from Pittsfield include the Lake Shore Limited, which runs between Boston and Chicago.

How about the Lake Shore Limited is the only train that stops in Pittsfield once in each direction? They make it sound like the next station east, Springfield, which has many, many arrivals and departures in addition to the Lake Shore.

Amtrak website is saying the station relocation will be in effect until November 2012.

The station in Pittsfield has returned to its original location at Joseph Scelsi Intermodal Transportation Center as of October 5, 2012.
