Full Version: SACRT/Green Line to River District now open

It's now open for business, though hopefully the area it serves outside downtown has some destinations for people to travel to. Bad news, at least for now, it only runs weekdays. So therefore there can't yet be any residences at Township 9 since they would be the primary users of such a service. The whole trip on this first segment of Green Line, end to end, is 11 minutes. Most of it is interlined with the previously existing Gold and Blue Lines. The new segment (1.1 miles) probably won't take more than a few minutes to traverse.

Sacramento light rail now extends to River District

As fireworks rang out and more than 100 spectators cheered Friday morning, the inaugural light- rail train on Sacramento's $44 million Green Line rolled into a new station at Seventh Street and Richards Boulevard north of downtown.

Here's that story. Those daytime fireworks must have been spectacular, but then there probably wasn't an audience out in that wasteland other than RT employees.

They had to find an LRV that was wrapped in green; that is not their normal livery.
