New Jersey Association of Railroad Passengers (NJ-ARP), newsletter for June 2012:
NJ TRANSIT debuted its ALP-45/DM dual mode locomotive on its Montclair-Boonton and Morris & Essex Lines in late May. The next proving ground for them will most likely be the Bay Head-Hoboken trains.
NJ-ARP laments the fact that while streetcars are gaining ground nationwide, they are not being considered for use here in New Jersey. They mention expanding, under construction, or proposed modern streetcar lines in Portland, Seattle, Tucson, Cincinnati, Salt Lake City, and Washington, DC, and expansion of heritage systems in New Orleans and San Francisco.
The next NJ-ARP board meeting will take place in Perth Amboy, in the Raritan Bay Coffee Company within that city's train station. The meeting is scheduled to coincide with arrivals and departures of the North Jersey Coast Line.
