ON TRACK ON LINE publishes trip reports submitted by our members, Friends of Amtrak e-mail list subscribers, and other sources. We format and post these reports, and indicate the source.
If you would like to submit a report please adhere to the following guidelines:
Send all reports to
Provide written explicit permission to use your name and e-mail address so that folks who have questions or comments can contact you directly. We use Javascript coding to hide e-mail addresses from "spam-bots". We will not publish anonymous reports but will omit your e-mail address if you wish.
Indicate the source of your report as either "OTOL Member", "Friends of Amtrak member", or "other source".
Send all reports as either:
the text of an e-mail message
a text file attachment to an e-mail message
Please do not send reports as Word, Claris or any other "doc"/word processor files. (All word processors have a "save as text" option.)
If you send photos they should be sent in a JPG format as attachments to an e-mail message (or imbedded in a textual e-mail); there is no need to submit thumbnail versions.
Ideal photo size is 555 x 416 pixels, but we strongly request that photos be no larger than 800 width and/or 600 height. Reformatting photos to fit our requirements greatly slows down the process of posting your report.
We regret that photo prints cannot be accepted at this time.
Photos and text you submit to this site remain your property and you may use them as you wish. You may insert small, unobtrusive copyright text on your photos. Our copyright applies to the "compilation" and format of display of the report and does not infringe on your right of ownership.
We reserve the right to edit reports for content and size, and photos for file size. In general, negative comments directed at persons mentioned by name will be deleted, as will lewd and inappropriate language. Please remember that children may read your report.
We reserve the right to not use some or all submitted photos as required by space limitations or for other reasons which will be communicated to you.
Your report may be seen by hundreds of people who do not make railroading a hobby. If you use acronyms and abbreviations, please explain them the first time you use them.
